Christmas Canvas class

Hi! I wanted to show you what I'll be teaching at the Scrappers Delight event in November. We will make this cute 16x20 canvas using acrylic paints and a bit of scrapbook paper. Now you may look at this and think that you can't create such an adorable piece of artwork, but I promise that I've broken this down so that anybody can paint it. Just think of the Christmas gifts you can make using this simple design.

Here are a few things that you will need to bring to class.
1. scissors
2. piece of sandpaper 100 grit
3. glue I prefer mono multi
4. a black scrapbook marker and a Sharpie
5. it's important to bring a 3\4 inch flat paint brush and a #2 flat brush. I got this variety pack at Hobby Lobby and it has everything you need in it. The brand is Loew Cornell and the pack style is#2112 . You can see the number in the top right corner of the pack.

Also if you want to trace a pattern so that you can make more of these, bring a 1\2 piece of poster board and a pencil to class.

If you want to know more about this event or you would like to sign up for this class or any of the others you can check it out HERE

Class this Thursday night @ 6pm!!

Hey guys, I'm teaching this Thursday at Scrap etc. Here's a little sneak peek. Hope to see you there!

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. Every year about this time I start getting impatient for that hint of color in the leaves and the first cool snap. Since it is still muggy and hot around here I thought I would have a class to take my mind off of the fact that fall just isn’t coming fast enough.

When you think of fall, which favorite memories come to mind? Is it the Halloween costumes, trips to the pumpkin patch, or nature walks in the colorful leaves? What if you could scrapbook all of those memories in one double 12x12 spread?

In this class we will create a double page layout with a twist! We will be incorporating a 12x12 page protector that holds 4x6 photos. This will allow you to use 12 or more photos from the fall happenings of years past, or the ones just around the corner.

Cost: $20.00

Date: Thursday Sept. 18th 6pm-8pm

Supplies:

12-14 random fall photos (4x6 landscape will work best).

Scissors

Paper trimmer

Favorite adhesives

Brown ink (any brand)

Brown pen

If you can not attend, but would like a kit call the store and get your name on the list.

See ya there!

Scrappin' at the lake!!!

I spent last weekend scrapbooking at the lake with my buddies. I mean look at this place! How can you not be inspired by this view right? I can see all of you turning green with envy right now and I can't can't say that I blame you. You know that old saying it's not what you know, but it's who you know well, lets just say that I have friends in high places. Thanks Audrea for such a wonderful time and I hope we can get together again soon.

My scrappin' spot was right by the window
looking over the deck railing. It is amazing
to say the least!

The new store

Whew! After a few cans of paint, a little flower makeover, and a few Advil, the move is finally over and now we can settle into our new spacious store. We still have a few decoration tricks up our sleeve and plans to build a rolling Accucut station, but for the most part we are up and running. I have to admit that the move worried me a bit. Anytime you move a business you are taking a risk, but the store is so nice and we have had such a great response from our customers that all of my worries are gone. Here are a few photos of the store and if you haven't been by yet come and see me soon!

It's time for a new scripts kit!

And boy are you gonna love this one! Here are a few little goodies that I made with it. If you like these you can check out more from our design team here.

If you have a teenager then you probably have photos that look just like these. Every single photo Savannah takes is extremely close up and usually involves some kind of kissy face.

I love weddings!

My niece got married last weekend and it was a beautiful wedding. I didn't get a good photo of the bride and groom because they had hired an amazing photographer and I was trying to stay out of his way.
I did get a few good shots of Savannah and Eric and since it's father's day, I thought I would share. This photo captures their relationship. They are very close and are always laughing and carrying on like two little kids (taking them to Wal Mart is impossible). Eric is an amazing father, he has always made daddy and daughter time for Savannah. They have been going to Jacks every Saturday for as long as I can remember and I'm NOT invited. This morning at church it made me realized just how blessed I am when I saw Savannah standing by her dad with her hand on his neck praying for him. It was such a special sight.

Ok, back to the real reason I started this post. I wanted to share the album I made for Emily and Todd. I would love to have photos of my first house like this. How wonderful this will be to look back on in 10 years. I used a canvas board for the front and back cover and Jenni B cards for some of the inside pages.

Why do they have to grow up?

It's that time again when we clean out Savannah's closet and get rid of all of the things that she can't wear, or just doesn't want anymore. This is the Mt Everest of donations that came out of it this time.(well, except for Holly and I think we'll keep her)
It always makes me sad to go through her clothes. I think about what she looked like or what she was doing when she wore them last and it's a constant reminder that she is growing and changing. Sometimes I want to hold on, but I know that she has lots of great things ahead of her and so I try to enjoy each stage as we go through it. I just pray that she doesn't put us in the poor house as we shop to fill the closet up again!

For the love of DISNEY!

It's so hard to come back to real life after living the Disney life. There's just nothing like it! This trip was with the whole Hudson clan all 10 of us. We had the best time with the kids especially watching Emma's excitement.

This time we traveled in style. Jeremie (my bro in-law) sings professionally and we were able to use the groups bus. It was a dream to be able to sleep, eat, potty, and... scrapbook all 10 hours as if you were sitting in the comfort of your own home.

I think the highlight of the trip was the new Nemo Musical show at Animal Kingdom. We had to see it twice both times from the front row. Savannah was lucky enough to be able to have her photo made with Dorie and we didn't leave the park until we had the soundtrack in hand.

This is what Savannah looks like when it's time to leave and come home. hee hee It's not a pretty sight. Well Mickey, we'll see ya again in November!
